Finally after 7 months! The council that removed children from a family for being UKIP supporters has said SORRY!
Wonderful! Way too late and an amazing and highly public display of what can only be described as a blatant abuse of human rights. But why has it taken so long to say sorry? Or rather more importantly why did it take politics to raise an issue that has been going on for YEARS!
In the Royal Courts of Justice Live Broadcasts about a month ago, I watched with great interest as the Local Authority involved were more or less torn apart by the judges for trying to impose a set of beliefs contrary to the parents.
One of the judges even noted "We learn from our parents, this may be true. But does that really give us any reason to say they are bad parents because they support the BNP?"
I listened to this man in awe... Not only was he brave enough to admit he had made mistakes in the past - He more or less hinted that he had smacked his child in a way he had later regretted - but he made a very fair and real point!
It does not matter if its politics or general belief... These issues should NEVER be an issues for Child Protection.
I have never hidden my Pagan/Wiccan Beliefs... Why should I? They are harmless and do nothing that would be in anyway dangerous - Yes there are idiots out there who believe its all about human sacrifice or beheading chickens, but common sense prevails now.
And I remember being met by my social worker who said very openly "Make sure you never practice you beliefs in front of the children." - How Nice!
That is exactly like saying to a Christian "YOU ARE FORBIDDEN TO PRAY!"
So we are living in a society where BELIEF - Be it political or religious is a form of child abuse? This is a DISGRACE!
No one should feel in fear to follow their religious beliefs (Well, Maybe Scientology .. Unfair! Sorry! I am not a fan of them!) and we should not have to justify our ways of worship!!! But we do!
Just as a point of note... And this is for anyone who wishes to open their eyes...
Have you ever noticed the lack of Sheikh Families that end up on the CP registers or how few you hear of?
Now I am not down crying the Sheikh beliefs - In fact I think we can all learn a lot from them as they do encourage from a very early age "Respect" for the family... So it is very obvious why we do hear so little... But of the few I do know about - No one would ever DARE turn around to them and say "You cannot do that! That's could be abusive or dangerous!"
It is part of their cultrure to carry a Sword and a Dagger during set religious ceremonies - Fair and good! We should respect that! But why is it OK for them but NOT for other religions that share similar?
If I were to follow many of the so called "Traditions" of my beliefs - I would have a hand crafted Knife and Sword, and be using them daily! But its is considered WRONG!
Why? Obviously the idea of a sword being used these days is dumb - Though the "Swords" were more the length of a kitchen knife and used for cooking really (I know my history - Ignore these silly book where you prance about naked waving some elaborate "Blacksmiths Masterpiece"... Thats nothing but Pop Culture rhetoric!).
We should not discriminate with ANY religion, Any Political Belief...
My sons foster carer did say to me that there have been a lot of changes in Social Services since he first arrived with her some 10 years ago... Well obviously they have not changed their views on bashing minorities or imposing "their political views" on people.
Whether Social Services like it or not - Nationwide... THIS IS ABUSE! And they are GUILTY AS CHARGED!
